How to enhance your PDF

2. Compare the original page with the enhanced preview.
3. Adjust one control at a time. Increase contrast for faint text, change brightness for dark scans, or try noise reduction for a speckled background.
4. Choose whether to preserve colors and review important details before continuing.

Choose settings carefully

Start with small adjustments. Strong sharpening can create outlines around letters, while excessive noise reduction can soften fine print. A black-and-white threshold can improve contrast but may remove pale stamps, colored highlights or handwritten notes. Use the preview as a guide rather than assuming that a stronger setting produces a better document.

Common questions

Does enhancement make text editable?

No. Improving a scan's appearance is not the same as optical character recognition. This tool does not recover missing text or turn scanned images into editable paragraphs. Keep the original if you also need selectable text or document structure.

Can it repair a corrupted PDF?

Enhancement changes visual appearance; it is not a repair process for files that will not open. Use the separate repair tool when a document has a damaged file structure.

What should I check before sharing?

Compare small text, signatures, diagrams and colored marks with the original. Keep an untouched backup and share the enhanced copy only after checking that important information remains legible. If the preview does not improve the scan, reset the controls or try a better scan of the source document.
